Affiliate URL Masking Part 2

By bms | Jul 12, 2009

Here is another way to mask a long affiliate url. Unlike the free service I spoke about in the previous post, this one costs only .89 per custom url.

When masking affiliate urls, I often use Godaddy and purchase a $.89 .info domain. They $.89 registers that domain to you for an entire year. I chose the .info because they are extremely inexpensive and they offer much more options compared to .com or .net extensions.

Once you purchase your .info domain to mask your affiliate link, you can do one of two things:

1. Forward it to your original affiliate landing page. Godaddy makes this very simple and only takes 30 seconds.

2. Create your own landing page with a site created by you or with a wordpress blog. I prefer the wordpress blog because it is a one click install using Hostgator. At the bottom of that landing page you created, give a direct link to the companies product you are promoting using either link html code or a banner provided to you. This is a great way to soft-sell the traffic to your site by giving them a personal story of how the product benefitted you.
